Back to our conversation about boards and commissi Back to our conversation about boards and commissions!

Board and commission roles are appointed, not elected, making them an accessible entry point for public service. Plus, no waiting for election cycles! πŸ—³οΈ

While some positions may be competitive or require expertise, casting a wide net in your city, county, or state increases your chances of finding a vacancy. Don’t forget local non-profits!

Start by researching opportunities in your area via Google or city/county/state offices. They’ll eagerly guide you in the right direction.

The application process is akin to a job interview. Share your experience and passion, undergo an interview, and await your appointment vote.

🌟 But have you considered the vital role played by board and commission members? πŸ“‹

Board and commission members shape public policies and offer valuable insights to elected officials. Typically, government boards fall into three categories:

1️⃣ Advisory boards: No formal governing power, but they provide crucial feedback and recommendations.
2️⃣ Quasi-judicial/regulatory boards: Granted authority to make legally enforceable decisions.
3️⃣ Supervisory boards: Oversee agencies, handle budgets, create policies, and make personnel decisions.

πŸ‘‰ Board and commission roles are appointed not elected, offering a less stressful entry into political service.

πŸ“† Stay tuned this week as we talk about how you can join these boards and commissions and the valuable lessons they offer! πŸ“š

Women of faith have a unique and important perspec Women of faith have a unique and important perspective to bring to the political arena. In a world where women’s voices are often marginalized and their contributions undervalued, women of faith have the opportunity to use their beliefs and values to make a difference in the world. Here are just a few reasons why women of faith should consider running for political office:

First, women of faith have a unique understanding of the challenges that women and families face. As women, they are often on the front lines of dealing with issues related to healthcare, education, and other important issues. They understand the struggles that women face, and they can use this understanding to advocate for policies that support women and families.

Second, women of faith have a strong sense of community and connection. Many religions place a strong emphasis on the importance of supporting and serving others, and this sense of community can be an important asset in political life. Women of faith can use their connections and networks to build support for their campaigns and to bring people together to work for the common good.

Women of faith have unique perspectives, strong values, and a deep commitment to justice. By running for political office, women of faith can make a real difference in the world and help to create a more just and compassionate society.

What reasons would you add?
